Maritime domain case (Seawater Desalination Channel)

Due to the direct demand for and sensitivity to factory operations, each channel needs to be completed on time, allowing for rapid recovery of services with minimal unit downtime. The Shigu team successfully completed all related tasks and, after a long period of use and inspection, showed good high-temperature and corrosion resistance.

1. Basic information

Each desalination plant consists of several production units. Each unit has a drainage channel that allows saline water to return to the seawater. The salt concentration of saline water is very high and is transported to the sea through concrete channels at high temperatures of 50-80 degrees Celsius. Over time, the concrete channel has suffered significant structural damage. Salt water passes through concrete and enters structural steel, causing corrosion and failure. The walls of the strait were severely damaged and ruptured in several areas.

2. Solution

Ten solid coatings provide a solution that can significantly reduce downtime and maintenance needs. Due to its high temperature and corrosion resistance requirements, the E-500 series has been selected as the ideal coating solution for this application. Prior to project approval, E-500 conducted water resistance tests on high salt concentration water at high temperatures in the laboratory.
